Australia’s best selling author, Bryce Courtenay, guest of Ambassador Faulkner
Best-selling Australian author, Bryce Courtenay, visited Israel in January 2012, where he met with leading Israeli authors, Etgar Keret, Nava Semel and Assaf Gavron at the Ambassador’s Residence.
These authors represent a sample of the rich cultural exchange between Australia and Israel.
Nava Semel told the guests that her ties to Australia, when her son was living there, had led her to write the book “Australian Wedding”.
Etgar Keret also expressed a soft spot for Australia. $9.99, an animated feature film, based on short stories by Keret, directed by Tatia Rosenthal and featuring the voices of leading Australian actors Geoffrey Rush and Anthony LaPaglia, was the first Israeli/Australian film co-production. Keret will also be attending the 2012 Adelaide Writer’s Festival.
